It is safe to say that if you listen or even so much as pay a passing interest in music, chances are you'll have seen the demise of more than one genre, and the rise some decades later of the very same genre that appeared dead in the water. What goes around comes around. Fifteen years after Grunge signaled the death rattle of Thrash Metal, here we are again on the verge of another Thrash explosion.

Along with the numerous genre stalwarts, many of whom have re-emerged in recent years, a new crop of talent has emerged to challenge the establishment. There are few who can lay claim to have done this with more impact than The Haunted. Given the phenomenal success of "rEVOLVEr" there could be few who thought that the album would be a tough act to follow, however The Haunted have resisted the temptation to rehash "rEVOLVEr Part II". Instead built upon it's strengths and corrected it's few flaws, to produce their best work to date.

There can be little doubt that the decision to promote Tue Madsen to the production helm has paid dividends to the overall power that "The Dead Eye" generates. The static mix that hindered "rEVOLVEr" has been eradicated, the lesson learned and has been replaced with a wall of sound. While the craft and guile of Anders Bjorler still confounds and amazes as his songwriting prowess hurtles from strength to strength. While Dolving's impressive display on the aforementioned "rEVOLVEr" paves into obscurity by comparison to that of "The Dead Eye". Never more brutal a performance will you find, as Dolving turns each song into a master class of extremity; underpinned by the mesmeric drumming of Per Moller Jensen.

The display of power verses subtlety has never been so ably demonstrated, roving between out and out Thrash to moments of introspective reflection. There can be few bands more capable of producing such total savagery; totally engulfing and consuming you in their world of beautiful seething rampage. A world of 55 minute Thrash powered excellence, profound and compelling, leaving you slaughtered in a pool of your own awe at the achievement that is "The Dead Eye".
