Since the departure of Max Cavalera fans of Sepultura have been divided into two very opposing camps. Those who believe the band ceased to produce any material of any merit beyond the recording of "Roots", and those who hail Derrick Green the rightful successor to the Sepultura front-man throne. It is fair to say that in recent years the Sep's popularity has dwindled and European performances have been largely in the form of supporting slots. It's interesting therefore that the boys from Brazil still have belief they have enough still in their locker to do justice to this often easy to produce, difficult to achieve 'classic' live album.

The first box is filled with a resounding tick as the track listing reads like a greatest hits, Roots Bloody Roots, Arise, Troops Of Doom and even such golden oldies as Escape To The Void get an airing. With such a glut of material is comes as some what of a surprise and nearly twenty years of live experience behind them, that the trade mark Sepultura guitar crunch is slightly lacking and production suffers from a muddy mix. Reminiscent to the bands pre "Beneath The Remains" recordings, the rawness of the production will certainly polarize opinion and will certainly appeal more to the tape trading generation than those more in tune with the super slick pro-tools era.

Recorded infront of what would surely have been a rabid hometown crowd, ensures the bands performance is worthy of such an occasion and the bar is raised by the band to meet the fans expectations. Wherever your own personal allegiances may lie in the whole Derrick / Max debate, on thing is certain; on tonight's performance Derrick makes classics like Dead Embrionic Cells and Beneath The Remains his own. Don't however expect much from the packaging, as there isn't any! The CD inner sleeve comprises of nothing more than a collage of pictures of back stage passes and a sprinkling of live images. Leaving me to wonder why the CD and DVD were not package in one bumper release to give maximum audio and visual overload? Certainly a release for the purest and Sepultura connoisseur, however enjoyable none the less.
