Since the demise of the Grunge scene in the mid 1990's, Seattle's musical output in terms of their contribution to the world of Metal has been scarcer than a virgin in a harem; even the debut release, "Counting Tragedy and Disaster" made little impact on the wider audience. Not until the bands second release, "Hail Horror" did people begin to stand up and take notice of the bands unique blend of over the top brutality fused with complex, yet decidedly catchy rhythms.

Fast forward eighteen months and we find the bands third and most potent release to date unleashed upon us. "Summon In Thunder" reunites returning guitarist Sammi Kurr with the driving force behind "Hail Horror", Kirby Johnson; to produce some of the bands most blisteringly devastating music to date. Johnny Pettibone's vocals have always been meshed majestically with the ferocity of HIMSA's wrath and anger filled riffs, but even more so now on such tunes as "Unleash Carnage" and "Hooks In Hands". These bile filled nuggets ensure HIMSA's vision of what their music is, is taken to another extreme level.

Mixed and Produced by Tue Madsen and Devin Townsend, "Summon In Thunder" is sure to appeal and entice one or two fans of the The Haunted and anyone who took an appreciation in the production of The Darkest Hour or Lamb Of God. Heavy in the extreme and a surefire winner for anyone with even a modicum of interest in their Metal being fast, vicious and nasty to the point of it being evil. "Summon In Thunder" is the culmination of HIMSA's graft over the past eight or so years finally coming to fruition. HIMSA's biggest problem now is how to surpass this offering next time around, but hey, that's a problem for another day?
